Trade Skills
Let me just mention this in regards to ALL trade skills:
When working on a trade skill, chances are that you're gonna be doing alot of monotanous buying
and selling to vendors. No matter what skill you choose, you're not always going to be able
to find buyers for what you're currently making to practice on, and so that you can recoupe some
of your spendings on raw materials you will end up selling back to vendors (you have only so
many slots to store things in while waiting on selling to prospective customers). Because of this
fact you're obviously going to want to be able to buy from vendors for the lowest prices possable,
and sell back to them for the highest. There are two things that will affect these prices, 1) your
faction standing with a given vendor, and 2) your charisma. I'm not going to get into changing
faction standing here, that's a whole different story, however I have found it VERY usefull to purchase
some charisma items to up my cha when working on my trade skills.
Shown here are 3 of the items I currently carry around with me everywhere I go and equip before I
purchase or sell ANYTHING to a vendor:
From what I can tell, CHR affects vendor pricings on a percentage basis.. where as with my 114 chr
I can purchase a water flask from a given vendor for 1s (as apposed to 1s 2c without being equiped),
if I make a larger purchase (say a combine scim from oasis) for 48p without equip, I can make the same
purchase for 40p equiped. So in essence.. these items will pay for themselves over time.
Buy them. Use them. :)
A Crude Stein can be found (from what I've heard) in Oggok on Ogre guards. These guards are constantly
being camped by higher level players, and since the item is lore, chances are you can get one for
free if you want to bad enough. I bought mine for 10p.
The Electrum Star Ruby Rings are player made. I'm not sure what the going rate
is on them but expect to pay around 200p or more for a pair of these. (maybe as much as 200 a piece, really not sure)
Split Paw Tooth Necklace can be found on the Tech Mas Gnolls outside of Paw.
These are the same gnolls that are constantly camped for their rare drop of Split Paw Hide Gloves. The necklace seems to
be another rare drop, however I was amazed that the party members I was with were not really interested
in this item when I saw it dropped once. You can probably pick this up in N. Freeport for around 10p or so.
